It all started last fall, as I was flipping through a magazine. I came across this jacket:

(this one is Saint Laurent, but there are so many out there that are fabulous)

It was love at first sight.  But of course, instead of saving my pennies and buying the jacket, I wanted to create a shoe around it.

I always see the vamp of a shoe the same as a clothing designer would see the neckline of a shirt, dress, or jacket. So my assistant designer and I set out to create a beautiful, sexy pump, where the vamp mimicked the neckline of a tough biker jacket.

Here is what we came up with:
  What do you think?

The collar folds over gracefully with two rugged silver grommets at the 'lapels'. The asymmetrical zipper slides just underneath the off-center v-neck, lending just the right touch of tough glamor. A pointy toe and three-inch heel are the perfect finishing touches.

I named this shoe the Brando, after the original tough motorcycle-riding rebel in Hollywood:

And here is the final shoe, brought to life in supple black Italian nappa:

We always need new black pumps. Why not live on the edge this season and see where the Brando takes you?

I see this shoe paired with a black power suit, headed to the boardroom for that stellar presentation that wins the new account. I see it with a fabulous dress or skirt, going out for drinks with your guy or girlfriends. I see it trotting off to run errands or do some window shopping, with beat-up jeans and, of course, the quintessential black biker jacket.

What do you think? How do you see yourself wearing the Brando this fall?
